After you have chosen your flight school, it's time to begin your training.  Generally, the process for obtaining your private pilot's certificate is broken into 3 phases.

This stage focuses on preparing you for solo (flying the aircraft by yourself).  This is the time where you will be introduced to basic maneuvers like slow flight, steep turns and stalls, as well as learning the aircraft systems, reading charts & weather reports.  Click on the Pre-Solo link for study guides to prepare you for what to expect during your training. Click here.

This stage focuses on soloing the aircraft away from your local practice area.  You will learn how to preplan flights, select routes to fly, understand and interpret weather conditions and navigate the aircraft using your flight instruments. Click on the Cross-Country Training link for study guides to prepare you for what to expect during your training. Click here.

This stage prepares you for the check ride (the finale of your training), it is a summary of all previous lessons combined.  You will be reviewing all information and maneuvers learned to this point in preparation for the check ride. Click here.
